Joe Miller, Jr.

Joe Miller, Jr. is a retired ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church located in rural Newton, Texas. Miller is a second-career clergy person who spent the first 30 years of his adult life as a chemical engineer. He holds a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Louisville and an MDiv from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. He is a veteran of the US Army, taught chemical engineering at Lamar University and the University of Akron, managed a variety of industrial research and development departments, and managed manufacturing operations. He was awarded US Patents and published in scientific journals. Currently he serves on the Newton City Council, operates the all volunteer Newton Food Share (pantry), is local director of the Salvation Army, and teaches Bible studies in local churches.
