A toolbox may be one of the most practical items ever invented by man. It holds many different types of tools that are essential for different functions and yet, here they are, all in one container. But, a pliers cannot drive a nail into a board any more than a hammer can cut a board. Each tool must be used for the task for which it was designed and cared for so that it will last a long time. Greg May first learned about tools from his grandfather and father. He learned how to use each tool correctly and to do each job to the best of his ability. Jesus was a carpenter. He learned about tools from his earthly father. He also learned to use tools in making disciples from His Heavenly Father. Greg May has been listening to Jesus for many years talk to him about tools and disciples and now he shares those lessons with others.

Jonah
What if someone you thought you knew very well started behaving strangely? What would you do? Now suppose the person acting strange was — God?
Jonah thought he knew God. In fact, he was a prophet. He knew he heard God’s voice. Life might have its difficulties, but no matter what happened, he could count on his God. Then one day God started saying things he couldn’t possibly mean.
What would you do if God commanded you to do something you knew couldn’t possibly be done? What if God commanded you to do something you definitely did not want to do? How would you preach if you hoped people wouldn’t listen?
Jonah faced these problems. In his story, many of us can find answers to those times when it’s hard to discern the right path.
This book is suitable as a guide to studying the book of Jonah, whether as an individual or a small group. It could also be a guide for a challenging sermon series.

Tired of passive Bible study? Unlock a vibrant, personal encounter with Scripture!Learning and Living Scripture: an Introduction to the Participatory Study Method by Geoffrey D. Lentz and Henry E. Neufeld offers a fresh approach to Bible study. This guide helps you move beyond merely learning about God to experiencing God firsthand. The Participatory Study Method invites you to become part of the Bible story, finding your place and living positively according to God’s will. Letters to My Grandson
What lasting words might a grandfather say to his grandson that would be lasting? What might develop from such a conversation?
Bruce Epperly, author, pastor, and theologian, set out to write regular letters to his grandson during the first year of the child’s life. Letters to my Grandson is a love story describing the relationship between a grandfather and his grandson. It celebrates the love of a family, including events of great joy and even grief. The author shares his revelation that the love of a grandson can grow into love for every child of this earth, a lesson taught by a child.
This is also a book of many adventures, common to us all but often overlooked in the frenetic pace of our everyday lives. Dr. Epperly, a self-professed “aging baby boomer” is finding renewal on his hands and knees as he crawls alongside his grandson, sings remembered childhood songs and looks at the world through those infant eyes.
“Love grows wings and enables our hearts to soar in so many ways every day. Jewish wisdom says that there is an angel whispering ‘grow, grow’ over every blade of grass. I am sure that an angel is whispering to my grandson Jack, ‘grow, grow.’ Creative wisdom, moving well beneath his consciousness and mine, lures him forward moment by moment on this amazing adventure of becoming a child of God on this good Earth.” – Bruce Epperly
You might want to read this to develop your own understanding, or at the appropriate time, share these thoughts with your own child or grandchild.

Life as Pilgrimage
In true Celtic fashion, Rev. Dr. David Moffett-Moore views life as a celebration to be shared and a pilgrimage to be explored, tracing his roots to the O’Mordha clan of ancient Ireland and the McQueen’s and MacLean’s of the Scottish highlands. In Life as Pilgrimage, Dr. Moffett-Moore offers us the image of pilgrimage as a basis for spiritual health. Using the Peregrine falcon as an archetype for pilgrimage, this volume explores the roots of our ancient past to discover meaning for our modern lives. Celtic pilgrimage is about the journey rather than the destination: life is a pilgrimage from the place of our birthing to the place of our rising. This second edition is expanded and revised.

Life in the Spirit
The Beatitudes, as they have been later known, are the guiding path set before every disciple of Jesus Christ, since the beginning of His ministry.
Jesus demonstrated each one in everyday life experiences. However, He also made known to the disciples that it is the Spirit of God that guides the true Believer into a right and focused intimate relationship with Him. Being able to understand the roles of the Trinity in the life of the individual Believer will assist the one seeking that perfect relationship with God. Through this relationship, one can strive with others for the work of the eternal Kingdom of God. The Believer should be made aware of the power that the Holy Spirit brings when allowed to work in their life.
Join Pastor J. Hamilton Weston in this Bible study that brings the Beatitudes and the Holy Spirit together to work in our livesl

Lord, I Keep Getting a Busy Signal
Do you feel like your prayers are not heard?
Prayer has often been described simply as communicating with God. How many of us talk to God daily? If we did not speak to our spouse daily, how much would we know about her/him?
Dr William Powell Tuck brings not only years of studying the Scripture but perhaps more importantly his own prayer experience and his time as a pastor, counseling and teaching others. “I have often been embarrassed to admit that praying has not come so easily or naturally to me,” he confesses in this book.
This frank and open attitude gives us all a renewed hope, makes us eager to see what Dr Tuck has to say about prayer, and try his suggestions.

Marriage in Interesting Times
This is a study guide on marriage. Discussions include: covenant vs contract, concepts of biblical marriage, loneliness and looking for a mate, the realities of divorce, and family in the larger community. I titled the study guide “Marriage in Interesting Times,” because we are living at a time when profound changes in the way marriage is understood. Not that long ago, it was assumed by many in American society that traditional marriage not only involved a man and a woman, but the man was the head of the household and the woman was a homemaker. The man earned the money, and the woman cared for the children and kept the house in order. Then came the idea that husband and wife were equal partners in the marriage. In most cases both partners worked outside the home, and they shared more equally the duties of the home. Today, the definition of marriage has evolved one more time to include same-sex couples … So, when we talk about marriage in the twenty-first century, at least in the United States, and a number of other nations around the globe, we must remember that the legal definition, if not the religious one, includes both gay and straight couples. Yes, these are interesting times. -

Meditations on According to John
The gospel of John, titled simply “According to John” in ancient manuscripts contains some of the simplest language in the New Testament. The Greek of this book is so simple that it is often used in teaching beginning students to read New Testament Greek. Pastors and teachers often recommend the book as a good starting point for new Christians reading the Bible for the first time. But the simple vocabulary and structure belies an extraordinary spiritual depth.
While there are lessons to be learned from an initial surface reading, diligent seekers will find incredible depths. Understanding these deeper lessons requires one to see the book as a whole and understand the intricate pattern of connections between the various parts. Verse by verse and even passage by passage study can be misleading.
New Testament scholar Herold Weiss spent a considerable amount of time searching for the best way to open up the treasures of this gospel to non-scholars and settled on a series of meditations on various phrases or events related in the book. In each meditation he ties the specific theme to related passages and imagery throughout the gospel.
His masterful presentation will open your eyes and mind to new insights into the fourth gospel, early Christianity, and its application to 21st century Christianity.
